BIPAN CHANDRA R. I. P.

Bipan Chandra, an expert in political history and economics, authored a number of books that are taught in schools and colleges. An authority on the Indian Independence movement, he was also considered an expert on Mahatma Gandhi. Chandra, who served as the general president of the Indian History Congress in 1985, was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2010. In his passing India has lost a great scholar and historian.
