The CBI has initiated investigations against six high ranking officials of the department of health services ( DHS), Delhi government, for alleged corruption in award of contracts for supply medical equipment to government hospitals in the national capital to certain “ineligible” firms. The agency is also probing the role of two private firms who bagged the contracts, worth several crores.

Sources said, “Initial probe has revealed that the suspected officials of the health department by abusing their official position awarded contract to a private firm, which allegedly misrepresented and concealed facts about its financial position. The contract was awarded on the basis of forged documents”. It has also been found that the suspected firm allegedly submitted false certificate issued by a charted accountancy firm, sources said. The firm, which bagged the contract, was supposed to fix the rate for the bulk supply of blood collection tubes to different government hospitals in Delhi, they added. “Investigations have revealed that the accused officers entered into a criminal conspiracy with the suspected firm,” sources said.
