Audit after Metro snag paralyses Blue Line

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Thousands of Delhi Metro commuters faced a harrowing time on Tuesday morning when a technical snag affected services on the Dwarka corridor for over an hour causing trains to run at a snail’s pace and halt for long at many stations, resulting in overcrowding. The busy Blue Line connecting Dwarka Sector 21 to Noida City Centre/ Vaishali has been frequently mired with technical glitches, hassling commuters. The corridor ferries about seven lakh passengers on an average daily.

Passengers complained that they had to wait for over 30 minutes for a train at Vaishali Metro Station. “Metro services of Blue Line were affected on Tuesday for about an hour when a portion of the over head electricity ( OHE) wire broke down between Janakpuri West and Uttam Nagar East station of the line going towards Dwarka. Operations on the Blue Line ( Dwarka Sector 21 to Noida City Centre/ Vaishali) were affected from 8.24 am to 9.47 a. m,” a spokesperson with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said.

Taking note of such incidents happening on the corridor often, officials have been asked to conduct an audit to analyse the cause of such occurrences and help minimise them. “Following the incident, Delhi Metro’s managing director Mangu Singh asked officials to conduct an audit,” the Metro spokesperson said.
