Realtor shot for refusing to pay protection money

A 40- year- old property dealer was allegedly shot for refusing to pay protection money in northeast Delhi’s Seelampur area. The incident took place when the victim, identified as Mohammed Aslam, was going towards Brahmpuri locality with his friend Akram on a motorcycle. The police said that Akram was riding the bike and when they neared a red signal, two men came on another motorcycle and shot him. A PCR call was made and Aslam was rushed to the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital where his condition is said to be critical. The police said that the victim’s brother, Mohammed Ayub, has stated in his complaint that a local criminal had been threatenin­g his brother for the past few days demanding protection money. “As he refused to pay, the criminal has committing this crime” Ayub said in his complaint. The police is now looking for the man whom the victim’s family has made accusation­s on and have sent teams to catch the culprit. Aslam runs a property dealing business and also has a handicraft business alongside. A case of attempt- to- murder has been registered at the Seelampur police station.
