Forensic lab in memory of rape victim

A forensic lab in the memory of the December 16 gangrape victim is set to come up in the South Delhi’s Chankyapuri area. The lab will initially operated temporarily from the facility till a permenant location is alloted for the same.

This lab will be provided funds from the ` 1,000 crore Nirbaya fund announced by the UPA government last year. Similar forensic lab will be set up at three different locations across the city in the due process.

The Delhi high court had in March directed the city government to search for buildings where such labs can be established immediately.

A division bench of of the court had said that each zone in the capital should have a forensic lab.
