Draw youngsters to sport: Usain

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Cricket, they say, is a religion in India, and the man who rules the world of ath

letics, endorsed it too. Usain Bolt’s love for cricket, his friendship with fellowJamaican Chris Gayle and Royal Challengers Bangalore are all well known. But when asked how India can convert itself into an athletics powerhouse, he pointed at the impact of cricket in the

country. “It’s all about the main sport. I think more youngsters want to take up cricket. Lot of them might have the talent to run but they won’t find out because all

they want to do is play cricket because that is the

sport!” Speaking on what they did differently in his country, the

29- year- old said, “In Jamaica, everyone wants to

run so we find a lot more talent. I think it is all about making the sport attractive to the younger generation

to want to compete. We train harder and work harder, and then you start to see

more talent.”
