Flaunting the love for superheroes such as Superman, Batman, Spider- Man and Iron Man has stereotypically been associated with guys. But breaking the stereotypes, girls have adopted this cool trend of wearing superhero tees. From comfortable cotton tees with logos of superheroes to sweet and simple bodycon dresses with depictions from Gotham City to popular cartoon strips like the Simpsons or Calvin — take your pick to rock the trend.
From several A- listed actresses of Bollywood to city fashionistas and college youngsters, girls are going down memory lane and have superhero blood running through their veins. Actresses such as Tamannaah Bhatia, Esha Gupta, Huma Qureshi and trendsetters like Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor have been spotted in varieties of logo tees at various occasions catching our eyeballs. Elaborating on the growing trend, stylist Saachi Gupta, who also loves to wear such tees and dresses says, “Fashion and films go hand in hand. Several blockbuster superhero movies such as Man of Steel, Spiderman series and popular sitcoms often making references to superheroes has gradually made them an intrinsic part of popular culture thereby giving rise to this comfortable, wearable trend.”
Another reason these tees are a hit is because they can be mix and matched with any cool lowers. “Jeans and tees make for the safest combination which never goes out of vogue. We all wear them and anyone can team them up with a nice pair of torn denims, short skirts or hot pants,” adds Saachi. What makes the trend popular is that it is hassle- free and one need not put in much effort in wearing it right. Designer Rina Dhaka says, “‘ Casualising’ seems to the latest fad. On sultry days, nobody likes dressing up. So a basic tee with your favourite logo is the ideal way to flaunt this trend.”
City youngster Paridhi Goel believes such tees speak about your personality and taste. She says, “Logo tees can be good conversation starters for friends. On days when one wishes to go simple yet look chic, one can go for pretty Disney princesses, Bart Simpsons dresses or one of the most popular Spiderman tees available in different colours. I have my wardrobe stuffed with such tees.”
