‘ REFRACTORY PERIOD LENGTHENS WITH AGE’
QI am a 34- year- old woman. My husband has been regularly using condoms. But for the last six months, there has been an irritation occurring due to the rubbing of the condom, so we decided to use contraceptive pills. But pills affected my mood. I became depressed. What can I do in this situation? Stop using the contraceptive pills and switch over to another method of contraception. Oral contraceptive pills, though an effective pregnancy preventer, can cause depression in some women. If you are planning to have a second child or if you already have two children, then you can get fitted a IUD ( Intra Uterine Contraceptive Device) till your children reach the age of five. If they are above the age of five, one of you can opt for sterilisation — vasectomy for your husband or tubectomy for you.
QI am a 40- year- old male. I have observed that I do not ejaculate if I have intercourse more than once a day, even though erection is there. Should I take any medicine for that? I have high BP for last 7- 8 years and I’ve been taking medicine for the disease. A man requires sexually resting period between two acts of sexual intercourse known as refractory period. During this time a man may not get a good erection or even if he gets one he may not be able to ejaculate. The duration of this period differs in different individuals and even in the same individual it differs from time to time depending upon the age, physical condition and emotional status. In general, as a man ages his refractory period duration lengthens. Hence, do not get worried. Enjoy the sensual aspects of sex instead of focusing on ejaculation.
