Details of recovered papers sought
Sources said Haschke had allegedly cleaned up all the documents from his computer related to the VVIP chopper deal
Central probe agencies, investigating the multicrore Agusta Westland helicopter deal, have sought details of the documents recovered from the house of the mother of alleged middleman in the case — Guido Haschke — in Italy from the ministry of defence. Sources said this will help Indian agencies in completing their probe at the earliest.
Sources said Haschke had allegedly cleaned up all the documents from his computer related to the VVIP copter deal. However, the documents were retrieved from his computer hard drive along with other papers he had hidden at his mother’s home in Italy by the foreign investigators.
“Documents recovered from the house of Haschke’s mother are crucial for both Central probe agencies — both the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate ( ED). It is believed that Haschke had noted details of his appointments, his meetings with Indian intermediaries, in Italy and Lugano and several international transactions including that of Finmeccanica in the documents recovered by Italian investigators,” sources said. These documents are now in possession of the MoD which need to be shared with the probe agencies, they added. Both the CBI and the ED have booked former Indian Air Force Chief, S. P. Tyagi and 12 others under charges of bribery, cheating, corruption and money- laundering in the Agusta Westland helicopter deal. The former Air Chief, his cousins — Sanjeev alias Julie, Rajeev alias Docsa and Sandeep, European middlemen Carlo Gerosa, Christian Michel and Guido Haschke were among 13 individuals named in the FIRs as accused. Six companies, including Italy- based Finmeccanica, Agusta-Westland, Mohali- based IDS Infotech, Chandigarhbased Aeromatrix, IDS Tunisia and IDS Mauritius have also been booked by the Indian agencies.
