Constables attacked in W. Delhi

In another incident, a constable who was patrolling along with traffic officials was pushed out of a moving car in Seemapuri area in northeast Delhi on Sunday night. The accused was later arrested.

In yet another attack on police personnel in the city, two Delhi police constables were beaten up by a group of men in Uttam Nagar area of West district on Sunday night when the police personnel confronted the group for allegedly drinking and gambling in a park.

The victims have been identified as constables Mandeep and Satyendra, both posted at the Uttam Nagar police station.

Five persons, including a juvenile, were arrested in connection with the incident. The accused have been identified as Chandar ( 38), Suresh ( 30), Krishna ( 34) and Naresh ( 36).

The police said that at about 7.30 pm on Sunday, the two cops were patrolling on their service motorcycle when they found a group of men doing some suspicious activities inside a local park in Nawada locality. “When the two went and objected to their drinking and gambling in the park, the assailants attacked the duo with stones and sticks,” the police said, adding that “one of the cops managed to inform about the incident to their colleagues after which a PCR and a police team arrived at the spot and they were rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhayay Hospital for medication.” A case under Section 186 ( obstructin­g public servant in discharge of his duties), 307 ( attempt to murder) and 353 ( assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) was registered at Uttam Nagar police station and further investigat­ions are on.

In another incident, a constable who was patrolling along with traffic officials was pushed out of a moving car in Seemapuri area in northeast Delhi on Sunday night.

The constable had tried to challan the driver and had sat in the vehicle to stop him from running away. The accused was later arrested and booked under relevant sections of the IPC.

These incidents come amidst frequent attacks against the Delhi police officials.

There have been three such incidents in the last 10 days, where four police men, including an assistant commission­er of police were attacked.

Three Delhi police constables have already been killed in three different incidents across the city in the past three months.
