FERRARI PICKS U. S. TO PARTY
In an ode to the American fan, the country gets its own Ferrari and others get a glimpse of perfection
Ferrari have been showing off. And why not — it’s the Prancing Horse after all. But the venue for their big party was rather interesting because for the 60th anniversary event titled ‘ Race Through the Decades, 1954- 2014’ — the Italian giant picked plush Beverly Hills, in California.
The carmaker actually shut down few blocks of Rodeo Drive and picked 60 of their rarest and “most interesting” cars from the six decades that they have been selling in the US. And to make sure the party was well attended, Ferrari invited anyone with a Ferrari to just turn up with family.
At last count, Motortrend reports that there were over 1,000 Ferraris at the event — possibly one of the largest gatherings of single brand of car in recent times. And oh, there was Megan Fox attending too!
The event reached its crescendo later when the manufacturer unveiled the new F60 America model Ferrari. Only 10 of these cars will be made, at $ 2.5 million each. Also, it’s a Ferrari for Americans only... maybe an ode to how much the Yanks have loved the Prancing Horse, over the years. In fact, all 10 F60s have already found an American buyer.
Some of the 1,000 Ferraris on display were almost of heirloom value — with a price of over $ 10 million dollars
THE PARTY Meanwhile, ‘ Race Through the Decades’ turned out to be the Burning Man for motoring fans, with Rodeo Drive lined up with some incredibly rare models of almost heirloom value. Some of the Spyders on display now cost a few millions and other rare models, like the race versions of the supercar are now well into the $ 10 million- plus territory that usually belongs to renaissance art.
So, if you have a rare car ( hopefully, an old Ferrari) hold on to it. And get the car refurbished... because who knows — years later, it could be your most valuable possession.
