SPARKLE this season

- KARPAGAM

It’s that time of the year when we love to splurge on clothes, shoes, makeup and indulge in some lip- smacking Indian delicacies. Yes, the festive season is back! And in the midst of our hectic work schedules and household chores, we all want to look like a diva. Here are some tips to add a dash of sparkle this festive season. KEEP IT SIMPLE: Use a concealer to deal with fine lines. Follow it up by drawing a fine stroke on the inner and upper lids of the eyes. To avoid looking tired, use a volumnising mascara and finish your look by topping your lips with shades of neutral or pink. HIGHLIGHT YOUR BEST FEATURE: Add a pop effect to your eyes by drawing a small wing with your eyeliner, use translucent powder on your eyelashes to plump them up before adding mascara or draw attention to your lips by using a bright lip tint. To make your cheeks look fuller, apply a dash of pink or peach blush as it contours and defines your cheek bones. DRAMATIC EYES: Try smoky eyes for the evening. Pick warm shades of gold, brown, charcoal black or grey eye shadow. Use a coloured eye pencil to draw a thick line on the upper eyelid, moving in an outward direction. Do the same with the lower eyelid and smudge from the outer corner of the eye. FESTIVE YOU: If your sari or salwar is grand, keep the makeup simple. For a neutral look that will suit any outfit, use gold to accentuate the eyelids and dark brown on the outer corner of the eye. Blend it towards the crease line to enhance the shape of the eyes. Wear a bindi to complete your festive avatar. — The author is a national skin trainer at,
