30- yr- old youth beaten to death in Trilokpuri

A 30- year- old man was killed after being attacked with stones by unidentifi­ed assailants in east Delhi’s Trilokpuri area late on Sunday night. The incident took place on the night when curfew restrictio­ns were relaxed for the first time since riots had erupted between two communitie­s in the locality on Diwali night, prompting the Delhi police to redeploy enhanced security.

Preliminar­y investigat­ions point to personal fight over money to be the reason behind the murder. The victim has been identified as Lalit Pal, alias Bunty.

taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors. His body was handed over to the family after autopsy. The police said that the woman who made the call told the police that she was awake till late night as her father- in- law has not been keeping well. “Late in the night she heard screams of a man who was referring to one Suneet to not kill him and that he would pay his money soon,” said the investigat­ing officials, adding, “The man, however, was killed and the assailants, who must have been 2- 3 in number, escaped from the spot.”

The police added that the assailants attacked Lalit with stones and even disfigured his face by repeatedly hitting it. “Lalit was identified on the basis of a tattoo which we found on his hand,” added the police. Lalit stayed with his wife Laxmi, three children, father Rajender, sister Pinki and mother. He worked at a shop in Connaught Place’s Pallika Bazar. His family members told the police that he left home on Sunday morning after having breakfast.
