BCCI MEET TO DISCUSS REPORT

N. SRINIVASAN, WHO WAS GIVEN A ‘ CLEAN CHIT’ BY THE MUDGAL COMMITTEE PROBE REPORT, WILL ATTEND THE EMERGENT WC ON TUESDAY

N. Srinivasan, who was given a ‘ clean chit’ by the Mudgal Committee probe report, will attend the emergent working committee that meets in the city on Tuesday. The meeting will discuss the probe report and also decide on a new date for the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting.

It’s unlikely that the working committee would take a call on the future of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals despite the probe report indicting the fran- chisee officials Gurunath Meiyappan and Raj Kundra.

The Tamil Nadu strongman’s camp is in jubilant mood after the report revealed Srinivasan had no role in betting or fixing scandal.

“There is not much that’s going to happen tomorrow at the WC meeting. Most of the members who will be attending the meeting are Srinivasan loyalists. Also with Mudgal committee finding that he was not involved in fixing, the decks should be cleared for him contesting for the presidential post,” a senior official was quoted as saying.

The official announcement on Srinivasan contesting the election will only come after the next Supreme Court hearing on November 24.

“The BCCI would like to keep its end guarded. Any decision will be taken after SC verdict.

“However there is hardly any opposition. I guess there shouldn’t be much opposition from the likes of Shashank Manohar, who at the maximum control four votes.

“There shouldn’t be any problems for him to retain his presidential post,” the official added.

However when asked whether Srinivasan’s close aide Sundar Raman, who is now in the dock after indictment by Mudgal Commission probe will get the boot, the official went on the defensive.

“Sundar has wielded enormous powers till now but what will be his fate after this report by the Commission can’t be said. Let SC come out with some judgement and then the board members will decide the fate of Sundar,” the official added.
