Looking a peachcoloured salwar- kurta paired with neutral- coloured accessories, Soha Ali Khan is the picture of sophistication at Sanjay Garg’s show on Day 1 of Amazon India Fashion Week S/ S 2015 in the capital. The pretty actress tells us that she will be seen playing a strong female protagonist in National Awardwinning director Shivaji Lotan Patil’s upcoming film 31st October. Buzz has it that she took personal interest in the styling of her character as she wanted to achieve a particular look in terms of her hair, attire, earrings and every minute detail that would remind viewers of the way women dressed during the 80s. In a freewheeling chat, she talks about beauty, makeup, fashion and more.

Comfort first, fashion later: I like yoga pants and the athleisure appeal of a garment. I also like tight sleeves and I love garments that have an Eastern influence written all over them. Garments that are reminiscent of the Eastern way of living or culture and those belonging to the Spice Route are my favourite. In terms of styling, my mantra is that one must identify one’s body type, and dress according to it. It is really easy to achieve a certain style when you dress up according to your shape. When I pick out a garment, I look for things like the quality of fabrics used, techniques, and of course the comfort appeal. I go for things that are one-ofakind and truly unique, and I don’t

look at the price tag.

The decade that inspires you the most: Definitely not the 80s ( laughs). I have always been a hippie chicken ( sic) so I have been partial towards the sexy 60s!

Love for pockets: It is essential to have pockets ( laughs). I don’t carry a lot of things and I’d rather carry what I do in my pocket than carry a bag. My basics include car keys, lipstick and cellphone. I hate carrying a bag and always look for garments that have pockets.

Makeup, not so much: For me, my hair and my eyes are more important things to pay attention to. I love to highlight my eyes. Normally, I don’t like to wear makeup much, I apply mascara every day and a little bit of lipstick.

Beauty stands for: To me, beauty is not external. It is about healthy skin as well as a healthy body and mind. When you feel good, you look good. Internal beauty always reflects in your appearance.
