After Bihar, BJP to limit Modi role in Bengal polls

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Learning some lessons from its Bihar poll fiasco, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the “face” of the BJP- led alliance, the party has decided not to “overexpose” its “star campaigner” in West Bengal, where Assembly polls are nearing.

Rumblings had started in the BJP after it suffered a humiliating defeat in Bihar.

It is learnt Mr Modi will not address more than 10 rallies in Mamata Banerjee- ruled West Bengal, where the BJP hopes to secure the role of main Opposition party, now held by the Left.

The PM is due to visit the state on February 21, when he will also lay the foundation stones of some projects. The BJP is also unlikely to project any leader as its chief ministerial candidate in West Bengal.

Patna: The BJP Tuesday

urged the Election Commission to take notice of an alleged comment by RJD president Lalu Yadav in

the run- up to the Harlakhi bypoll that “only those voting for secular alliance will get pure, tap water”. “This is

a threat to voter and violates model code of conduct which is in action in the Harlakhi Assembly constituency of Madhubani district, which would see voting on February 13,” BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said. “EC should take notice

of Lalu Prasad’s comment and act against him.”
