Drunk couple creates ruckus in CP

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Connaught Place witnessed dramatic scenes on Tuesday night when an inebriated couple badly misbehaved with the police personnel after allegedly hitting two men on a motorcycle with their Mercedes- Benz, leaving them injured.

The woman and man, identified as Neha Ansari ( 26) and Prashant Aggarwal ( 40), got into a heated argument with the two men who were injured when the couple’s car collided with the motorcycle.

Aggarwal is a doctor at a private hospital at Noida Sector 35 and is married and Neha Ansari is a former HR professional who worked in the same hospital.

The medical examination of the duo conducted at the R. M. L. Hospital, confirmed the presence of alcohol in their bodies beyond permissible limit, the police said. The Patiala house court on Wednesday sent the woman for one- day judicial custody.

“Medical examination conducted by the hospital confirmed the presence of alcohol in their bodies beyond permissible limits. We have registered two cases. One against the car driver at the Connaught Place police station for rash and negligent driving and a second against the woman for preventing government officials from performing duties at the North Avenue police station,” deputy commissioner of New Delhi district Jatin Narwal said.

Locals at the scene tried to stop the couple from fleeing after the accident. This enraged the woman and she allegedly started hitting the injured men brutally. Seeing the commotion, a passerby informed the police, but the woman attacked the policemen too who had reached the spot.

The woman threatened the locals not to intervene as she was the daughter of a rich man and whoever intervened would face dire consequences.

Police sources later identified Neha as the daughter of a petrol pump owner.

In a complaint, 25- yearold Sonu, a resident of South Delhi’s Chirag Dilli, told the police that his motorcycle was hit by a Mercedes- Benz being driven by Aggarwal.
