ON YOUR WINE LIST FOR VALENTINE’S

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Whether you want to order a bottle to go along with that candlelit dinner you’ve planned, or whether it is that perfect gift you’re hoping to send your partner, drawing up your V- Day wine list can be quite the task. Here’s a quick lowdown on labels to include:

MOËT ROSÉ IMPÉRIAL

In French, ‘osé’ means daring, and in keeping with the sentiment is the Moët Rosé Impérial. While the Moët & Chandon style — think bright fruitiness, a seductive palate and elegant maturity — is of course the big draw, the packaging too is just perfect for a romantic occasion.

JACOB’S CREEK CLASSIC SPARKLING ROSÉ

The Jacob’s Creek Classic Sparkling Rosé is said to “delight all of the senses, offering not only the beautiful sight of its soft pink hue, but also the smell of fresh strawberry, red currant and citrus, and the lingering taste of red berries”. And on that note, we ask — would a rosé by any other name smell ( and taste) as sweet?

PAUSE’S RUBY RED AND SHIRAZ

Red is the colour of love — and of these offerings from Pause for Valentine’s Day. The label’s Ruby Red is a signature varietal from the vineyards of Dindori, Nashik and is made from the finest Zinfandel grape. It has a mild pink colour, with a zesty citrus aroma and undercurrents of orange, vanilla, strawberry and cherry. In contrast, the Shiraz is more of a spirited deep- red wine.

GROVER ZAMPA’S ZAMPA SOIRÉE BRUT ROSÉ

The Zampa Soirée Brut Rosé is light and creamy, with a cherry and strawberry follow- up that gives the wine its persistence and length of flavour. If it isn’t just what you’re looking for, there’s also the Art Collection Shiraz Rosé.
