The Delhi police is probing property angle in the triple murder of a woman and her two daughters in Northeast Delhi’s New Usmanpur area.

Sayara, 50, and her two daughters, Mehrunissa and Shabnam, were found brutally murdered inside their three- storey residence on Sunday evening. Their decomposed bodies were recovered from separate rooms in the house.

Sources said that Sayara, whose husband Aslam had died two years ago, was involved in a property dispute with another wife of her husband.

Aslam’s second wife lives in Chauhan Bangar locality in Northeast Delhi.

Sources said the police has questioned his second wife and other relatives too.

Deputy commission­er of police Ajit Kumar Singla said, “We are not ruling out the property angle, but we are invetsigat­ing the case from other angles too.”

The sources said the police has ruled out the possibilit­y of robbery as the entry was friendly. The house was locked from outside but there were signs of struggle inside the house.

her daughters lived on the first floor of the house and the ground floor was rented out to a man, who is missing for the past four days.

The tenant suspectedl­y had an one- sided love affair with Mehrunissa. Some relatives have been questioned and CCTV grabs obtained from the locality are being checked.

Efforts are on to trace the missing tenant, the senior officials added.

Meanwhile, it has also emerged that a youth from the locality was arrested once on a complaint of harassment lodged by Mehrunissa.

He, along with several others, were detained for questionin­g on Monday and grilled for a few hours, the official said.

The victims had multiple stab injuries and Sayara’s throat was found slit with a sharp weapon, the official said. Prima facie, they died at least three days ago.

While Mehrunissa’s body was found in a bedroom on the first floor of the house, Shabnam's body was found shoved inside a bathroom.

The killer dragged Sayara’s body and left it on the staircase leading towards the terrace.
