One convict already in jail for stealing judge stamp

Amit Shukla, one of the three men convicted for murdering and robbing IT executive Jigisha Ghosh in 2009, was earlier convicted by a Delhi court for using fake seal of a metropolitan magistrate and preparing a forged order of court to be allowed home- made food and special eatables. He was sentenced to two- year imprisonment.

On the complaint of metropolitan magistrate Anuj Aggarwal of the Saket court, a case was lodged under Sections 420, 468 and 471 of the IPC. During investigation, the forged documents were obtained from lockup in- charge of Saket lock- up.

A forged letter was recovered from Shukla’s possession that allowed him access to dry fruits, olive oil and some natural nuts and sweets. The letter had allegedly been issued to another undertrial Rahul Jain. The letter was produced before the metropolitan magistrate and Mr Aggarwal denied he had allowed Shukla access to special food and said the document was forged.

The police chargesheeted Shukla for the offence punishable under Section 420/ 468/ 471 of IPC to which he pleaded not guilty and said he was being falsely implicated. To prove its case, the prosecution examined nine witnesses.

During the trial, Shukla denied having used a forged application or affixing forged signature and stamp on a document to be allowed to have homemade food and special eatables. The court after going through all the evidence convicted Shukla and sentenced him to two years in jail under Section 471 of the IPC for using fake stamp of the metropolitan magistrate.
