Mittal reappointe­d Rail Board chief

New Delhi: The government on Friday reappointe­d A. K. Mittal as chairman of the Railway Board ( CRB) for two years, two days before his retirement. Mr Mittal, due to retire July 31, is the first such officer to be reappointe­d.

Two days before his retirement, Railway Board chairman A. K. Mittal has been reappointe­d to the same position for two more years. The decision to reappoint Mr Mittal was taken by the PMO in a bid to give continuity to the ongoing works in Railways. With this extension, Mr Mittal, who took over as CRB on January 1, 2015, will have a tenure of over three- and- a- half years, making him the longest serving head of the railway board.
