CONG TARGETS NDMC OVER SCHOOL SHOES

-

New Delhi: The leader of Opposition ( NDMC), Mukesh Goel, and member of education committee, Satbir Sharma, have alleged that the ruling BJP is involved in corruption in the procurement and supply of four lakh pairs of shoes for distribution among students studying in civic body schools. According to Mr Goel, the corporation procured shoes at the cost of 85 and 95 for boys and 83 and 93 for girls. The average cost of shoes for boys and girls is 90. The corporation distributes shoes to students once in a year, but the shoes supplied are of such poor quality that they may not last even for a month. “The ruling party is making money by providing poor quality shoes to children at a higher rate,” he said. Mr Goel added that he has written a letter to lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung demanding an independent inquiry in the procurement process.
