WATCH OUT FOR THE SPECIAL 10

The opening ceremony of the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games will see an unusual 10member contingent grace the occasion on August 5. The squad will compete under the Olympic flag, not any particular national one.

The 10 are different from the rest in the manner that they will comprise two swimmers from Syria, two judokas from the Democratic Republic of Congo, five runners from South Sudan and a marathoner from Ethiopia.

The squad are known as the ‘ Team of Refugee Olympic Athletes’ as all the members are those who have been forced to flee their respective war torn countries and have taken refuge in Europe.
