Amandeep wins as rain cancels play

Amandeep Drall was declared winner of the 11th leg of the Hero women’s profession­al golf tour at the Prestige Golfshire near Bengaluru on Friday after the third and final day’s play was cancelled due to incessant rain.

The decision was taken by the tournament committee and Amandeep was declared winner on the basis of two completed rounds.

Panchkula girl Amandeep finished with a total score of 139 after 36 holes at the end of Day 2.

Going into the final round, she had a big lead of six shots. This is her second successive win after the KGA event. Chandigarh’s Saaniya Sharma and local girl Sharmila Nicollet finished tied second with scores of 145.

Delhi’s Vani Kapoor, Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi and local girl Trisha Sunil were all tied fourth on 146 after 36 holes.

Pune girl Shweta Galande ( 149) finished seventh, followed by Delhi’s Mehar Atwal ( 151) and Bengaluru’s Nikki Ponappa ( 153).

The tour now moves to the Hyderabad Golf Club from August 2 to 5.
