Two minor girls — one aged 12 years and the other aged 16 — were raped in separate incidents in Delhi on Sunday.

In the first case, a 16- yearold girl was allegedly raped several times in southeast Delhi’s Jamia Nagar area by her schoolmate and his friends. He not only made a video of the act, but also used it to blackmail her, said the police.

In her police complaint, the complainant said that the accused and she study in the same school and that they were allegedly in a relationship. Both live in Jamia Nagar. A senior police official said that the 16- year- old juvenile is being questioned to know more details.

According to the complainant, the accused first raped her and recorded the act and started blackmailing her. He also threatened to make the video public if she didn’t agree to his demands, a senior official reported. He took her to different places in Delhi and allegedly raped her along with his friends on several occasions.

The victim has given the mobile numbers of the friends of the juvenile who allegedly raped her.

was raped by a 17- year- old boy of her locality on Wednesday evening. The boy took her to an isolated place in west Delhi’s Mohan Garden area, near her residence, and raped her.

The victim was threatened by the boy not to disclose any details to her parents or face dire consequences. However, the girl gathered courage on Saturday and narrated the incident to her parents. The couple approached the

police which arrested the accused followed by the girl’s medical examination the same day.

“I came to know about the incident on Saturday. My sister called me up and told me what had happened. The police were helpful and prompt,” said the victim’s uncle, who works at the MCD.

Senior police officers said that the matter came to light on Saturday and as the victim’s parents reported the matter, the girl was sent for a medical examination and the accused was apprehended from his residence.

“A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Pocso Act has been registered at the Ranhola police station and further probe is underway,” said a senior police officer.
