Man abducted, robbed of 3L, probe on `

A collection agent with a private firm was abducted and held hostage in a moving car for over two hours and later dumped after being thrashed and robbed of ` 3 lakh in Shalimar Bagh area of northwest delhi.

Dayanand, 34, who works as a Munim and collection agent with a firm dealing in metal in the Shahabad Daulatpur area was abducted and robbed of ` 3 lakh by three car- borne criminals on Ring Road in Shalimar Bagh area on August 23 evening, the police said.

In his statement, Dayanand told the police that he was returning to his office on his scooter after collecting ` 3 lakh when three youth in a car intercepte­d him and forcibly dragged him inside the vehicle in the Kashmiri Bagh area.

The trio took him around for over two hours in the car and kept on beating him. The car passed though several police posts, but the robbers managed to pass through unchecked. Finally, they threw him out in a service road in the area after snatching his bag. Later, with the help of a motorcycli­st, he made a PCR call and was admitted to hospital by the police, said the complainan­t.

A senior police official said that an investigat­ion has been ordered in the case. The police has obtained CCTV footage and is scanning them to get a clue about the robbers. “We have noted down all the details of the case and several teams have been formed to arrest the culprits. We are also finding out how the robber’s car managed to go unchecked through police checkposts,” said a senior police official.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC.
