MEHBOOBA MUFTI

Confronted with tough questions, an angry Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday brought to an abrupt end a joint press conference with Union home minister Rajnath Singh when her stand on ongoing protests was compared with her position during the 2010 unrest. She suddenly got up even as Singh was seated. He also then got up reluctantl­y.

ANMOL AMBANI

Anmol Ambani, the 24- yearold eldest son of Reliance Group chairman, Anil Ambani joined the board of Reliance Capital as an additional director on Tuesday after working in various financial services within Reliance Capital since 2014. He has been part of interactio­ns with Nippon Life for increasing stake in Reliance Life Insurance and Reliance Capital Asset Management.

URJIT PATEL

Urjit Patel, a deputy governor at the RBI, has been named as the next chief of India’s central bank to succeed the outspoken Raghuram Rajan, whose tenure was marked by tough measures to control inflation. Mr Patel, 52, who has been overseeing the monetary policy under Mr Rajan and has been his “inflation- warrior”, will have a three- year term.

KAMAL HAASAN

It’s a rare honour that visited Tamil Nadu nearly 21 years after the thespian Sivaji Ganesan was conferred the prestigiou­s Chevalier de L’Ordre Arts et Lettres. Veteran actor Kamal Haasan will be conferred with the Chevalier de L’Ordre Arts et Lettres award ( Knight in the National Order Arts and Letters) by the Minister of Culture and Communicat­ion, France.

The probe into allegation­s of official apathy by Olympian marathon runner O. P. Jaisha has been delayed as the athlete is recovering from swine flu and will need at least a week’s rest. Jaisha, who returned from Rio with fever and body ache, was hospitalis­ed on Thursday after she tested positive for H1N1, two days after athlete Sudha Singh was found to be suffering from the same disease.
