- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Union home minister Rajnath Singh reviewed security along the IndiaPakistan border on Tuesday with top brass of the Border Security Force and home ministry, a day after the Centre decided to install hi- tech surveillance gadgets to secure Indian borders.

The home minister, who had a comprehensive discussion regarding deployment of forces along the border, directed the BSF to strengthen its intelligencesharing grid with other agencies, particularly the local police in Jammu and Kashmir.

The BSF is the border guarding force securing India’s borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh in northern, western and eastern sectors. Sources said Mr Singh stressed on the need for BSF to develop “real- time information and sharing it concerned agencies” in a bid to crack down on infiltration attempts from across the border.

Senior BSF officials, including director- general K. K. Sharma, gave a detailed presentation on the force’s preparedness on dealing with the challenges across the Indo- Pak border at the meeting, which was also attended by Union home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi.

Sources said that BSF confirmed that Pakistani Rangers, which protects the borders on the other side, had increased its presence post the Uri incident and some of the militant launch pads and camps close to the border had been shifted.
