CIVIC BODY CHIEF ISSUES ORDERS ON CLEANLINES­S

In order to improve the look and image of the city, the South Delhi Municipal Corporatio­n ( SDMC) has issued strict instructio­ns to its officers and employees to ensure cleanlines­s of all 577 dhalaos ( garbage dumps) situated under its jurisdicti­on twice a day. The corporatio­n has issued these instructio­ns on the dictat of Raj Niwas. While referring to the order of lieutenant- governor Najeeb Jung, SDMC commission­er P. K. Goel instructed all four zones to constitute separate team for separate dhalaos immediatel­y and said that the accumulate­d garbage in and around dhalaos can become a cause for diseases. Dr Goel instructed officials to deploy at least one employee at each dhalao during the day time. In addition to this, a supervisor will also remain present at each dhalao. The teams will get regular cleaning in their respective dhalaos. “Negligence in work will not be tolerated and immediate action will be taken against the erring employees,” he added.
