- AGE CORRESPONDENT

The Aam Aadmi Party government on Tuesday announced ` 1 crore compensation to the family of a school teacher stabbed to death by two of his students. Mukesh Kumar, a teacher, was stabbed on Monday by two Class 12 students in front of their classmates for allegedly having them rusticated for low attendance.

The government has also ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident, Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said.

“There can be no compensation for the family’s agony... The government will give ` 1 crore to his family as immediate financial assistance,” Mr Sisodia said.

He added that there are around 26 lakh students studying in Delhi schools and one cannot call all of them criminals because of the criminal tendencies of just two students.
