-

New Delhi, Oct. 25: A 23-yearold man allegedly attempted suicide by jumping in front of an approaching train at the AIIMS Metro station on Tuesday afternoon. According to the police, the incident took place at about 2.40 pm at the platform number 1 where the man, identified as Punit, allegedly jumped on the tracks. “The man sustained injuries on his head. He has been rushed to a nearby hospital where he is stated to be out of danger,” said a senior police official.

The police said the reason for the incident couldn’t be ascertained as Punit is not in a position to record his statement.

However, they haven’t ruled out the possibility of him trying to kill himself.

“He might have fallen accidentally or might have tried to jump in front of the train. We will gain more clarity when Punit recovers,” the officer added.
