Tycoon gets backing from Speaker Ryan in U-turn

Washington, Nov. 6: In a last-minute campaign boost for Donald Trump, US House of Representa­tives Speaker Paul Ryan is back on board with the Republican presidenti­al candidate in his bid for the White House.

Mr Ryan, a top Republican, had said in early October he would no longer campaign or defend the controvers­ial 70-yearold real estate billionair­e’s comments following the leak of a 2005 video showing Mr Trump making lewd comments about women.

made a final case for the Republican presidenti­al candidate. Mr Ryan and Mr Trump have had a turbulent relationsh­ip throughout the course of the election, but Mr Ryan has maintained his endorsemen­t and announced he voted for the party’s nominee in Tuesday’s election.

“Take a look at what a unified Republican government can get you. And then vote Republican — Donald Trump, our Senate candidates, and our House candidates — so we can start turning things around,” Mr Ryan said.

“Over the last five weeks, I have travelled to nearly 25 states and more than 50 cities. I know we are ready to revitalise the American Idea,” he said.
