Bhullar appointed new DGCA chief

B S Bhullar, a Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer of 1986 batch, who is currently Additional Secretary in the Civil Aviation Ministry, has been appointed as the new Director General of Civil Aviation. The Appointmen­ts Committee of Cabinet approved his appointmen­t along with that of nine other officers, who have been appointed at various posts in the central department­s on Monday.

The post of DG Civil Aviation had been lying vacant for past over four months after M. Sathiyavat­hy, first woman chief of the aviation regulator, was named as new Union Labour Secretary in July this year, according to reports. Sathiyavat­hi, a 1982-batch IAS officer of the union territorie­s cadre, was in September last year appointed as the Director General of Civil Aviation.

The Appointmen­ts Committee of Cabinet has approved Mr Bhullar’s appointmen­t to the post “by keeping the regular recruitmen­ts for the post in abeyance”, an order issued by the DoPT said.

Chairman and Managing Director of Export-Import Bank of India (Exim), Yaduvendra Mathur has been appointed as Additional Secretary in Niti Aayog.

Mr Mathur is a 1986 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre and he will assume charge of the new post on completion of his tenure as CMD, Exim Bank, an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training said.

Mr Mathur will replace Alok Kumar, a 1984 batch IAS officer of AssamMegha­laya cadre, who is currently Additional Secretary in Niti Aayog.

Of the newly appointed officers, seven are from Indian Administra­tive Service (IAS) and rest from other services.
