Delhi, Sonepat schools dominate

MM Public School Pitampura, Delhi, and Little Angels School of Sonepat dominated the semi-finals lineup on the penultimat­e day of the Central Board of Secondary Education national lawn tennis championsh­ip at the Billabong High Internatio­nal School courts in Noida on Sunday.

Both the schools made it to three of the four semi-finals respective­ly, while hosts Billabong High School also reached the last four stage in two categories.

In the knockout stages held on Sunday, MM Public School beat Mount Carmel Dwarka 2-0 in the boys U-14 category while Little Angels got the better of DPS Noida by an identical margin.

Both the schools also posted victories by identical margins in the boys U-19 knockouts where MM Public School won against DAV Tamil Nadu and the school from Sonipat beat Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan Telengana to storm into the semi-finals.

DPS Hyderabad and Indian High School Dubai were the other two semi-finalists in the boys U-14 while hosts Billabong and St. Jospeh Tonk completed the last four lineup in the boys U-19 category.

In the girls U-14 knockout matches, Billabong School made it to their second semi-final of the day with a 2-1 victory over Little Angels Sonipat. Modern School Delhi, DPS Bangalore and SBOA Chennai were the other semi-finalists in this category.

In the U-19 girls category, it was again MM Public School Pitampura (beat Mount Carmel Dwarka 2-1) and Little Angels Sonepat (won against Birla Public School Qatar 2-0) who found themselves in the semifinals along with DAV School Chennai and Global Edge Telengana.
