RSS: SHUN ‘EURO-CENTRIC’ PERSPECTIVE

-

New Delhi: The RSS wants books which “awakens” the country’s “self-respect” to be part of the educational curriculum rather than books which are “deliberate attempts” to showcase Indian history through a “Euro-centric” perspective. At the release of two books Bharat Ko Samajhnae Ki Shart (Conditions to Understand India) and Bharat Gatha India’s story), senior RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale, while referring to the alleged “anti-India” slogans in Jawaharlal Nehru University last year, said if students were taught about the correct history of the country, “bharat ke tukdae hote naare nahin lagate (they would not had made anti-India slogans).” Mr Hosabale also added that there is a deliberate attempt to mislead the countrymen about India’s real history through “Euro-centric” perspective books. The Modi government often comes under fire from the Opposition for “saffronisation” of the education system and also educational institutions on its ideological mentor’s behest. HRD minister Prakash Javadekar said the “narrative” about India’s history should be correct. Mr Hosabale suggested that Indian envoys should read the two books so that they can inform the world about the real India.
