VIGILANCE DEPT SEEKS REPORT ON MOHALLA CLINICS

-

New Delhi: Following the complaints of alleged irregularities, the vigilance department of the Delhi government has sought details from the chief district medical officers on the functioning of mohalla clinics. Sources said that based on the complaints, the department recently wrote to all chief district medical officers (CDMOs) seeking their reply on the various issues, including amount of money being paid to the consultant doctors and rent for a few mohalla clinics. The AAP dispensation’s mohalla clinic project, aimed at providing free healthcare facility to the city residents closer to their home, has received global recognition. The project received praise from the leaders, including former UN General Secretary Kofi Annan, and one of the oldest medical journals in the world — the Lancet of the UK. “Vigilance department has sought details from the health department on alleged irregularities after it received numbers of complaints about the functioning of Mohalla clinics,” sources said. Meanwhile, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari on Wednesday alleged that Delhi government’s ambitious “mohalla clinics” project ‘is not a medium of public service, but a source of economic development of ruling party volunteers”.
