PC maker HP launched its ‘Omen’ range of gaming notebooks and desktop to tap the growing community of gaming enthusiasts in the country. Priced between `79,990 and `1.4 lakh, HP’s range will compete with the likes of Asus and BenQ, who have a strong line-up of gaming devices. “The Indian gaming market has been expanding and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15 per cent in the next five years. This not only includes serious gamers, but also a large and growing community of casual gaming enthusiasts,” HP India senior director, Ketan Patel told PTI.

He added that the range includes various configurations and price points to meet the varied demands of the gaming community. According to a CII report, India’s gaming industry was valued at USD 543.08 million in 2016 and is projected to cross USD 800 million by 2022.

The gaming industry in India has grown rapidly over the last decade, predominantly on the back of increasing smartphone and Internet penetration coupled with rising income levels in the country.
