ABVP STIR AT POLICE HQ OVER ANTI-INDIA SLOGANS

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

The ABVP held a protest outside the Delhi police HQ on Wednesday, demanding action in the February 9 anti-India sloganeering case in JNU. “It has been one year and no action has been taken and chargesheet has not been filed yet. There are reports in the media that the videos of the anti-India slogans raised by student leaders of Communist organisations have been found authentic”, said Shreerang Kulkarni, head, national media wing, ABVP.

The protestors demanded that all those who raised such slogans in JNU should be prosecuted.

The protest witnessed about 30-35 protestors raising slogans like ‘Deshdrohi par reham karne wali Delhi police sharm karo’ and ‘JNU mein deshdrohi naaro par kaarwahi kab?’ However, the student wing did not submit any memorandum to the police.

“After creating a commotion at the JNU, these antinational sloganeers have now moved to the DU. The Delhi police has a responsibility in the matter but they have not been able to file a chargesheet in this case. The police has not been able to identify all the culprits, even while facts are coming out that antinational slogans were indeed raised at the JNU and also at the Ramjas College,” said Saket Bahuguna, ABVP national media convenor.

While talking about the social media campaign launched by Gurmeher Kaur, Mr Bahuguna said, “There have been many attempts to divert attention from this issue like Gurmehar Kaur coming in with her campaign alongside many allegations against the ABVP.”
