Minor surrenders after murder in Welcome area

The police went into a tizzy after a minor boy surrendere­d before the cops and confessed of stabbing a 29year-old man to death in Welcome area on Friday noon.

The deceased, identified as Mohammed Adil and a resident of Chauhan Bangar area, is survived by his mother, two brothers and a sister. Adil owned a mobile repair shop in Seelampur. The police suspects personal rivalry behind the murder.

The incident took place on Friday noon in new Jaffrabad in a park. The police said that Adil after offering his prayers in a nearby masjid left to meet his friends at New Jaffrabad. Probe reveals that the four friends sat for sometime and later left the place on the pretext of coming back in sometime. Adil decided to wait for his friends. But when Adil’s friends came back, they found him lying in a pool of blood with stab injuries on his head and shoulder. They immediatel­y informed the police who rushed to the spot and moved him to GTB Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. His body was sent for a post-mortem.

The police added that by the time the probe was initiated and it was busy with the preliminar­y probe, a juvenile allegedly approached the deputy police commission­er office in West Delhi and claimed to have murdered the man in Welcome area. Taking a serious note of the statement, a team informed the higher officials, following which he was taken into custody. To verify his claims, the team took the juvenile to the incident spot.

“The police is questionin­g the boy in this connection and suspect personal rivalry behind the murder. We are probing in all directions,” said an investigat­ing officer. Meanwhile during questionin­g, the brother of the deceased told the police that a few days ago, Adil had a fight with a few customers who had come to the shop and it had taken an ugly turn. The suspects had even threatened to kill Adil.
