E. Delhi gangrape case: Cops obtain CCTV footage

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Two days after a 26-year-old Nepalese woman jumped off the first floor of a building in East Delhi’s Pandav Nagar to escape from five men who allegedly raped her for hours, the Delhi police has got a CCTV footage in which she can be seen walking nude on the road and begging for help from the locals.

A woman in the locality gave clothes to the victim, who is a mother of two children. While four of the accused — Lakshay Bhalla, Vikas Kumar, Naveen, and Prateek — work in call centres in Noida, the fifth accused, Swarit, is an engineer with Tech Mahindra.

Munni Devi, a local resident, said that at 5.40 am she witnessed a young woman walking nude on the street and begging for help. She immediately threw a shirt and pyjama from her balcony at her. An auto driver, who was passing by the street, stopped his auto and took the clothes and offered it to the woman. The driver also gave his mobile phone to the woman to inform the police.

The police has already arrested and sent the five men to jail. They are now looking for one Kundan, a common link between the woman and the five men, who had allegedly taken her to the flat.

The 17-second-long footage shows two men standing outside a building and looking upward towards the first floor balcony and signalling somebody by waiving their hands. It seems that they were asking someone to not jump. Suddenly, a nude woman is seen falling down from the building and landing on the stairs. One of the men helped her stand on her feet. The woman is then seen seeking help from passersby.
