Toll tax staff vandalise taxi, woman lawyer hurt

A woman lawyer sustained injuries and escaped miraculous­ly after a gang of unruly men, allegedly belonging to toll plaza on the Delhi-Gurgaon route, vandalised the cab belonging to a private app-based aggregator.

The attack took place on March 7 after the driver of the cab tried to evade giving tax. According to the police, the incident took place in Fatehpur Beri police station limits. The injured lawyer, identified as Isha Shekhar (29) and a resident of Saket, was in the cab when the incident took place.

It all began when Isha who had gone to Gurgaon for work. As she was returning, Isha booked a private app-based cab for her home to Saket. As the cab reached the Fatehpur Beri Toll plaza, the driver didn’t pay the toll tax and moved his vehicle. A few toll employees who were standing out of the toll booth and keeping an eye on each cab passing by took note of the driver trying to speed away allegedly tried to stop him. Unable to hear them, as the driver tried to speed up, a gang of men armed with hockey sticks attacked the car and resorted to vandalism.

According to the complaint, Isha who was inside the car sustained minor abrasions and immediatel­y informed the police who then sent a team to the spot and registered a case against the toll tax employees.
