Sexual assault on minor in S. Delhi

Two minor girls were raped in South Delhi areas between Monday and Tuesday, the police said.

The first crime took place in Govindpuri area on Monday evening in which a six-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by an unidentifi­ed man. The man later left her outside her home and fled.

The police said it is yet to identify the suspect. The cops are using CCTV footage of cameras installed in nearby areas to identify the suspect. “A case under relevant Section of the IPC and Pocso Act has been registered,” said Romil Baaniya, deputy commission­er of police (southeast).

A senior police officer said that the crime came to light early Tuesday morning when the girl’s parents approached the police and informed about the crime. A police team reached the girl’s home and learnt that on Monday evening, she was playing with her friends at Navjeevan Camp Park when a man lured her to an unknown place on the pretext of giving her chocolates.

The girl narrated the entire incident to her mother, who in turn informed her husband. A complaint was filed on Tuesday. “The girl was sent to AIIMS hospital for treatment. During the medical checkup, allegation was corroborat­ed and accordingl­y a case was registered,” said Baaniya.

In another crime, a fourand-a-half-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her neighbour in an under constructi­on building in South Delhi’s Neb Sarai on Tuesday. The police has detained the accused.
