Aamir celebrates 52nd b’day

- LIPIKA VARMA

Aamir Khan celebrated his 52nd birthday in the usual manner that he does every year. Thanking the media, present at his door as always to wish him, Aamir says, “Aap log har saal mera birthday manaate hai, yeh khushi ki bat hai mere liye.” (I am happy that you celebrate my birthday every year.)

After cutting the cake, Aamir was all set to answer a volley of questions from the media.

About collaborating with Shah Rukh Khan No. I met him twice in the last few months. Once at Ajay Bijli’s party, where we met after a long time. It felt wonderful spending time with him. Recently there was a gettogether. We met just as friends.

About voicing opinions

I don’t think I’ve been careless while giving my opinions on matters. I’ve always been careful and will hopefully continue to be so, but I will also continue to say what I feel.

On nepotism

In general, I think it’s a very normal human emotion to try and help people who you love and care for. It doesn’t necessarily have to be someone who is part of your family. It’s a very natural emotion. I try to make sure that in my work, I don’t let it interfere. As a creative person, I am responsible to my audience and I give huge importance to that. I try not to bring in emotions in my work.

On politics

Politics is not for me. I feel there’s a lot I can contribute, staying in the creative field. As an artist, and a creative person, I can contribute to the society, and to the nation. I would like to do that from where I am. I don’t want to change.

On his next film, Thugs of

Hindostan with Amitabh Bachchan I have yet to learn so much from Amitji. I am excited to be working with him. It will really be a great learning experience, I know that for sure. Mujhe aisa lagta hai ki unse bahut kuch seekhne ko milega mujhe (I feel I will get to learn a lot from him).”

Touted to have donned the role of a thug in this film, hopes are running high among fans to see yet another different and wonderful performance by the perfectionist Aamir Khan. Aamir has been sporting a heavy moustache, which is believed to be his final look for the movie. The actor, however, denied, saying, “We are still experimenting with different looks. This is one among them. But this is not the final look.”
