Overhauling process put on hold by BJP

Fearing backlash, the Delhi BJP has decided not to restructure its various wings till the upcoming civic elections in the national capital. Sources said that it is a clear instruction from the party’s central leadership to wait till further instructions.

The president of the youth wing, Poorvanchal, women’s morcha, OBC wing, and Kisan Morcha were nominated on January 15. These presidents were supposed to appoint new team members, which has been put on hold.

A well-placed source in the party said that the direction to not constitute new teams for these morchas (wings) till the completion of the civic polls next month has come from the national general secretary (organisation) and conveyed to the state leadership by state general secretary (organisation) Sidharthan. “Central leadership, which is taking the polls very seriously, feel that the announcement of the teams right now will create more dissidence and resentment in these wings,” he added.

Delhi BJP yuva morcha president Sunil Yadav told this newspaper that the party is already in election mode and announcing a new team now will affect its poll preparation.

Delhi BJP general secretary Kuljeet Chahal said that the party and morcha presidents are working together and the team of these wings will be announced accordingly by nominating suitable party workers. Mr Chahal, however, failed to give any deadline about the new teams for these morchas.
