Ghaziabad sex racket busted, 100 detained

Around 100 men and women who were allegedly found in objectiona­ble positions during raids by the Ghaziabad police on hotels on railway road in Bazariya area on Monday. About 14 police officials concerned, including a DSP, of the area have been transferre­d post the raids and an inquiry launched against the station house officer (SHO) of G.T. Road Kotwali, officials said. Acting on a tip-off, the raids were conducted under the supervisio­n of deputy superinten­dent of police Saloni Agarawal and SHO of Mahila Thana Aarti Soni in the hotels suspected to be running sex racket.

Around 50 couples were detained by the Kotwali police

of police Deepak Kumar said. During the search of the rooms the girls and youth were found in objectiona­ble conditions and all of them were held, the SSP said.

He added that 50 couples have been detained by the Kotwali police and they will be produced in court on Wednesday.

The raids were conducted on a complaint by residents who were unhappy with the hotel owners for allowing such activities. One of the owners was allegedly charging `500-1000 for such activities.

A police team was formed to scout for hotels where such activities were taking place. Upon inspection of Arya Deep Hotel and Devender Hotel, around 100 men and women were found in objectiona­ble positions.

DSP Inderpal Singh (circle officer) and chowki incharge, along with one dozen police personnel, have been shifted and an inquiry has been constitute­d against SHO Kotwali Parshuram, SSP Kumar said.
