LoC STRIKES BOOSTED J&K SECURITY

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Surgical strikes carried out by Indian Army’s Special Forces at militant camps across the Line of Control last September had a positive impact on the overall security situation in the Kashmir as terror related incidents dropped for three consecutive months following the operation. While there were 110 terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir during three-months before the surgical strikes, the figure dropped to 87 for the same period post the incident. It was not just terror incidents which witnessed a drop, but the number of security personnel and civilians killed also declined. Minister of state for home Hansraj Ahir informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply on Wednesday that during the three months prior to the September 29 surgical strikes, 34 security personnel and seven civilians were killed. But during the three months, post surgical strikes, 19 security personnel and six civilians were killed. The home ministry data reveals the militants were clearly pushed on the backfoot after the strikes.
