The incident was reported on Wednesday morning at 10. 30 am. The girl works at a footwear manufacturing unit in Sangam Vihar area, nearly a kilometre away from her house. When the girl was on her way to work, the accused was waiting for her, armed with a bottle of “diluted acid” used for cleaning bathrooms.

“When she warned him to keep away, Ravi force the liquid down my daughter’s throat,” her mother alleged.

Her mother said that Ravi and her daughter were in a relationship for almost two years. But Ravi was abusive and his drinking habits were the reason for the break up.

The girl has sustained grievous internal injuries and is undergoing treatment.
