The police has arrested his colleague, Manoj, who killed the deceased after the latter refused to return his money.

The incident took place on 16 March, when the police received a PCR call informing that a man’s body was found near a canal at Nilothi Village in outer Delhi. He was identified as Sunil Mehto after the local swimmers had fished him out of the canal.

His family was contacted about his death and they were clueless about who could have murdered him. The police questioned his colleagues and soon found out that his motorcycle and his colleague, Manoj, were missing from the spot.

The police sent a team to his native village in Bihar’s Nalanda district. “The team disguised themselves as bank officials and collected information about Manoj. Later, they found out that Manoj had returned to Delhi a few days ago. On questioning his colleagues, his location was ascertained and was arrested from Nilothi Extension area on Sunday,” said a senior police official.

During the interrogation, Manoj disclosed that on the day of the incident, both of them were drunk and had an argument over Sunil not paying `2,000 that Manoj had lent out.
