Svetlana’s life in danger: Lohia

-

New Delhi: Dr Ram Manohar Lohia said in the Lok Sabha today that the life of madame Svetlana, Stalin’s daughter, (now in Switzerland), was in danger and adjournment motion which he had given notice of relating to her future, should be admitted and taken up immediately.

He pleaded that not only permission should be given to her to come and settle down in India, but she should be requested by government to come to India. He said a message should be sent to her or an officer should be sent to meet her to convey the request.

Dr Lohia said he had in his possession a copy of a letter written by her to substantiate what he was saying. He placed it on the table of the House.

Earlier, when the Speaker said it was not proper for Dr Lohia to place the letter on the table as the item was not on the agenda, the leader of the Swatantra Group, Mr M.R. Masani, said considerations of humanity should be taken into account and all the members should be enabled to know what was contained in the letter.

The Speaker, Mr N. Sanjiva Reddi, said the adjournment motion was under his consideration and he would give his ruling on its admissibility later.

In the letter of February 10 last to Mr Devendra Bahri of Allahabad, she said: “It was very pleasant to meet friendly people and although they could not help in realising my wish they had shown understanding and sympathy. May be it was my mistake that I did not use all the possibilities but I am tired and disgusted to continue the talk about the matter. It seem that fate is against it this time”.

She said: “So finally it is decided that on the first of March I am leaving for Moscow. Rajasaheb was very happy to learn that and now he is very nice to me. So no I stay in Kalakankar. I will be in Delhi from the 25th February and then I will be able to fulfil the wish of Naresh”.

Mrs Svetlana Alliueva, has informed her host in India that some of her father’s papers, which she was carrying with her, were missing.

Her suspicion reported is that the papers were stolen when she was in this country.
