Will expose both AAP and Cong, says BJP leader

- SHASHI BHUSHAN

During the campaign for April 23 civic polls, apart from highlighting the corruption and misgovernance of the Arvind Kejriwal government, the BJP will also remind voters about the corruption of its arch rival Congress during its regime in the Centre and state.

BJP national vice-president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe told this newspaper that highlighting the failures of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the last two years will not allow Congress’ corruption and misdeeds to be forgotten. When asked which party — AAP or Congress — is its main rival in the coming civic polls, Mr Sahasrabuddhe said that for BJP, both the parties are its rival. However, despite its poor performance, Congress cannot be undermined because their organisation is pretty old as compared to AAP. “Due to AAP’s bankruptcy many times it so happens that the corruptions of Congress are forgotten. But we cannot forget and we will not allow people to forget,” added Mr Sahasrabuddhe.

He claimed that Congress ruled civic bodies across the country failed to develop civic infrastructure as they look at these cities, especially the metros, as a milking cow to fill the government exchequer. “Congress ruled civic bodies never took care of the demanding characteristic of the urban infrastructures. For example, the flyover era in Mumbai was started under Nitin Gadkari and Metro rail in Delhi was sped up during the Atal Behari Vajpayee government,” Mr Sahasrabuddhe said.

He promised that the three civic bodies of the national capital under BJP good governance model will work to develop a sense of belonging among the residents by taking care of all the aspects of the city. “BJP ruled civic bodies, apart from infrastructure, will ensure quality of life in the urban areas by taking care of all the gender, social, and cultural aspect,” he added.
